Earlsferry Thistle has played on Elie Links since 1875, an 18-hole course laid out by 1896 with design influence from Old Tom Morris. The club's members have included two Open Champions and produced the 1930 British Walker Cup player John Nelson Smith, while James Braid and Archie Simpson both became renowned course architects; today it ranks among Scotland's finest links courses and remains playable year-round on full greens.
