Opened in 2009, Machrihanish Dunes is a links course designed by David McLay Kidd stretching 7,082 yards across a Site of Special Scientific Interest. With minimal earthmoving during construction, only seven of 259 acres were disturbed, the course follows the natural terrain of the Argyll coastline, where six greens and five tees sit at the ocean's edge and wandering sheep maintain the rough. It was the first 18-hole course in the U.K. to achieve GEO Environmental Certification.
