Founded in 1905 and extended to 18 holes in 1997, Colvend is a parkland course on the Solway Coast near Dalbeattie that commands views across to the Cumbrian Fells and Isle of Man. The layout combines the original nine holes, redesigned by Dave Thomas with small well-guarded greens, alongside more recent additions that offer water features and tree-lined fairways, with the par-3 eighth hole standing out as a notably strong hole in the area.
