Founded in 1924 by local businessmen and professionals, Pontardawe expanded from its original 9 holes to an 18-hole layout completed in 1968, marked by a round with professional Brian Huggett. Set at 600 feet in the upper Swansea Valley, this semi-parkland course stretches just over 6,100 yards at par 70, offering expansive views across the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountain and Swansea Bay, particularly from the signature 16th hole known locally as the 'pulpit'.
